What is an AIS?
What is an AIS?
An Automatic Identification System, or AIS, is a tracking system that vessels use to broadcast their location, speed, and where they're heading to other vessels and coastal authorities nearby.
What are the benefits of an AIS?
What are the benefits of an AIS?
Automatic Identification Systems offer both safety and navigation benefits. These systems allow vessels and authorities to see each vessel's real-time position, speed and heading. This can assist in traffic management and coordination. AIS can reduce the risk of collisions, particularly in poor visibility or at night. For smaller vessels, they can also improve your visibility to larger ships.
